The purpose of this paper is to clarify the elastic-plastic behavior and the
lord-carrying capacity of glued laminated timber bridge with connecting
Joints.
In the first place, this study is analyzed by elastic-plastic finite element
method using Tsai-Wu yield criterion when material characteristic value
and layer construct of glued laminated timber beam varied.The present
results of the load-capacity and displacement almost agreed with that of
bending destructive test. In pure bending condition, when elastic modulus
and material strength of each lamina increase, 1oad-carrying capacity and
central displacement increased. Outer laminas thick conditions innuence
the load-carrying capacity and displacement.
ln the next numerical example, glued laminated timber arched bridge with
connecting joints is analyzed. Connecting member joints of this structure
assumed finite element model having narrow width and low stifrness. From
the numerical results, we can see the load-capacity is little lnnuenced by the
semi-rigid connecting joints but displacement increased.
